One Room Challenge, Week 4

IMG_0325.jpg

It’s Week 4 of the One Room Challenge which means only two weeks to go until the big reveal. YIKES. (If you need to catch up, here’s what’s gone down so far in Week 1, Week 2 and Week 3.)

Because this is my first time as a featured participant, or any type of participant for that matter (thanks again, Linda for inviting me!), when I was planning the room, I tried to make it as manageable as possible and not take on too much. The last thing I wanted was to not come through with a finished room in the end.

And overall things are going smoothly. The good news is almost everything has arrived. The dining room has served as the receiving center for FTRB HQ the past couple of weeks…..

The whole vibe of the room is already different with the chair from All Modern…..

I’m in love with this whole situation. Here’s the side table from ATGStores…..

I’m also gaga for all the textures coming together…..

I can’t wait to put this linen bedding from Annie Selke’s Pine Cone Hill on the bed…..

I also decided to leave the antique night stands unpainted for now. I think it will add some warmth and depth to the room. (But of course, I reserve the right to change my mind!)

The one item I’m waiting on is the carpet (which should be delivered this week) and that’s causing a bit of a bottleneck because I need it in place before the two big items on my list can be done: assembling the bed and installing the sconces. So it’s going to be a flurry of activity around here as soon as the carpet arrives.

In the meantime, I’m debating whether to reinstall the drapes because I’m really loving the clean look of just the roman shades. To refresh your memory, these are the drapes…..

And here is one of the windows without them after the Farrow and Ball wallpaper was installed…..

What do you think? I think I’ll be able to decide for certain once all of the furniture is in place but I would love to hear your thoughts.

One last thing for today….. if you’re thinking about redecorating a room in your own home, one of our generous sponsors, ATGStores, is offering readers $100 off any order of $199 or more during the month of October. They have anything and everything you could possibly need (the bed, sconces and table I’m using in this room are all from there) so if you’ve been wanting to update a space, this would be a great way to get started. Head on over to ATGStores.com and just use the code OneRoom 100 at checkout.

I’ll see you next week and be sure to check in with the other participants. Last I checked, they’re doing some amazing work!

  1. I’m so glad you are not painting those tables/nightstands. Get some Old English Scratch Cover and an old, soft cloth, and go over them in their entirety. You won’t believe the difference it makes. Also, I’d rehang those dreamy curtains. Thanks for sharing all of this.

  2. I just painted our great room and of course removed the drapes. It was such a wow factor when they were off the walls , I decided to leave them off.

  3. i actually really love the curtains… they add another softening layer… that chair is inspired & fabulous… can’t wait to see it all come together!

  4. I love what you’ve showed us so far. I’m really excited about the clean, fresh look you seem to be headed for. My vote would be to leave the curtain panels off!

  5. I’m new here. I found you from Hi Sugarplum! I just wanted to say that I would leave the curtains off. The wallpaper and windows with the roman shades look amazing. I’m excited to see how it will look when its done.

  6. Can you wait until all the furniture is in place to decide? I like shades only in smallish spaces but not sure how much room you’re working with…

    1. That’s what I’ll probably end up doing because for the moment, I’m going to leave them off. I’ll reinstall them at the very end if I decide the room needs it. (The shades are staying either way though. I need blackout!) 🙂
